Integrated Mobility Concepts for the Fürstenfeldbruck Region “Fliegerhorst”

A dele­ga­ti­on of more than 40 stu­dents and lec­tu­r­ers of the inter­na­tio­nal master’s degree pro­gram “Trans­por­ta­ti­on Sys­tems” of Tech­ni­sche Uni­ver­si­tät Mün­chen (Tech­ni­cal Uni­ver­si­ty of Munich) visi­ted Fürs­ten­feld­bruck on 23^rd Novem­ber 2016.

Mat­thi­as Fied­ler (traf­fic plan­ning and mobi­li­ty manage­ment) led the group to a num­ber of traf­fic plan­ning and urban deve­lo­p­ment “hot­spots” in Fürs­ten­feld­bruck, ran­ging from Geschwister-Scholl-Platz, Vieh­markt­platz and other loca­ti­ons to the fede­ral road B2. After an invi­go­ra­ting break with cof­fee and cake, Mar­tin Kornacher, head of the muni­ci­pal plan­ning and buil­ding con­trol office, and Mat­thi­as Fied­ler pro­vi­ded their guests with fur­ther infor­ma­ti­on on the town authority’s chal­lenges and plans, focu­sing on the topics of mobi­li­ty and air base.

As part of the pro­ject semi­nar “Inte­gra­ted Mobi­li­ty Con­cepts for the Fürs­ten­feld­bruck Regi­on and “Flie­ger­horst””, the stu­dents will deve­lop con­cepts of what mobi­li­ty in Fürs­ten­feld­bruck and its sur­roun­dings could look like in the future and how the new part of town at the con­ver­si­on site could be well con­nec­ted to its sur­roun­dings from the begin­ning in the next few months. Stu­dents orga­ni­zed in small groups are to deve­lop the­se con­cepts deal­ing with various aspects like the air base’s link to the MVV (Munich’s public trans­por­ta­ti­on net­work), car sha­ring, elec­t­ro mobi­li­ty and par­ti­cu­lar­ly the mobi­li­ty on foot and by bike.

The town aut­ho­ri­ty is now eager­ly awai­ting the results hoping to pre­sent them also at a poli­ti­cal level in the next year.
