Integrated Mobility Concepts for the Fürstenfeldbruck Region “Fliegerhorst”
A delegation of more than 40 students and lecturers of the international master’s degree program “Transportation Systems” of Technische Universität München (Technical University of Munich) visited Fürstenfeldbruck on 23rd November 2016.
Matthias Fiedler (traffic planning and mobility management) led the group to a number of traffic planning and urban development “hotspots” in Fürstenfeldbruck, ranging from Geschwister-Scholl-Platz, Viehmarktplatz and other locations to the federal road B2. After an invigorating break with coffee and cake, Martin Kornacher, head of the municipal planning and building control office, and Matthias Fiedler provided their guests with further information on the town authority’s challenges and plans, focusing on the topics of mobility and air base.
As part of the project seminar “Integrated Mobility Concepts for the Fürstenfeldbruck Region and “Fliegerhorst””, the students will develop concepts of what mobility in Fürstenfeldbruck and its surroundings could look like in the future and how the new part of town at the conversion site could be well connected to its surroundings from the beginning in the next few months. Students organized in small groups are to develop these concepts dealing with various aspects like the air base’s link to the MVV (Munich’s public transportation network), car sharing, electro mobility and particularly the mobility on foot and by bike.
The town authority is now eagerly awaiting the results hoping to present them also at a political level in the next year.
